Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) is a diploma program offered by Little Flower Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, approved by the Directorate of Medical Education, Govt. of Kerala. Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) is one of the branches of medical sciences that is responsible for performing the diagnosis of the human body to prevent and cure deadly diseases. Students who are interested in investigating and diagnosing the various elements which are related to the prevention and cure of the disease can pursue the Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology Course. A Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) is a two-year diploma program. This program concentrates on imparting a thorough knowledge of the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases through the use of clinical laboratory Equipment. This program is designed to impart in-depth knowledge & technical skills of Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology & Blood Bank, and their application in the healthcare delivery system.

Lab techs work in diverse settings, which include health care, industry, research, and educational institutions.

  • Pathology Technician: –The job duties include gathering tissue samples, preparing slides for evaluation and testing, and storing specimens properly. The applicants may also assist the pathologists with autopsies.
  • Medical Writer (Entry Level):-A medical writer is a person who applies the principles of clinical research in developing clinical trial documents that effectively and clearly describe research results, product use, and other medical information.
 

Employment Areas in Diploma Medical Lab Technician (DMLT)

After completion of the course of Diploma in Medical Lab Technician (DMLT), a candidate can join the following reputed firms: –

Government or Private hospitals, Diagnostic labs, Clinics or nursing homes, Doctor offices, Government and private medical colleges and universities

Eligibility for admission:

  1. Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala, or examinations recognized equivalent thereto, with 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology put together, are eligible. Relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed to SC/ST candidates.
  2. Candidates who have passed VHSE with 40% marks put together for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are eligible. Relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed to SC/ST candidates.
  3. Candidates who are eligible as above and who have passed VHSE with Lab Technician Research & Quality Control (LTR), are further eligible for the seats reserved for DMLT(ML).

 

Note: – Candidates who have passed examinations recognized as equivalent to the Higher Secondary Education of Kerala must upload an equivalency certificate issued by the Kerala Higher Secondary Board.
